APG has found that at structured fires, the run off of water that is used to extinguish the fire poses a threat and this threat of contamination would depend on the nature of the goods and products that were stored in and around that facility.

Host an immediate assessment of the immediate area concentrating on all living organisms in and around the incidents covered area.

The application of aerators to assist the plant, animal and microorganism communities.

The removal of all dead animals and other organism that may have died because of the incident. All dead organisms and animals are disposed of in a manner that no other animal could digest them causing secondary problems.

The immediate evaluation of all visible animal and birds for possible contamination and on going evaluation of both animals and areas.

The immediate closure of contaminated areas to prevent access to animals that may become contaminated because of the incident.

The identification of food sources should the incident have had an effect on the food source in the immediate area.

The setting up of alternative feeding and drinking points.

Monitor weather patterns and water - flow patterns of the contaminated areas.

Setting up of an on-site rehabilitation centre.
